What's Next?

It always feels like we start to get to this time of year, summer is starting to wind down as those with kids start to anticipate sending them back to school. Vacations are over, the days are getting shorter and the mind starts to wander to “what’s next”? The UNI Family Business Forum hosted a series of Summer Family Business Reunion events around the state. Each of these provided different topics, a chance to meet a variety of new family businesses and to get feedback about “what’s next for family businesses”.

This is a great transition into WHAT IS NEXT? For family businesses that question looms large for many as each business examines what it is doing today and how they will compete tomorrow. Also, looking at who is running the business right now and if there is a next generation ready to step into new roles and leadership.

These are the types of questions, answers and topics that will be explored as the 2019-2020 Family Breakfast Forum launches in Ankeny on September 20th. The family breakfast forum has been expanded from the initial pilot series to five sessions. Every other month [September, November, January, March and May] focused breakfast topics will be rolled out to get families learning and talking about “what is next” for their family business! Join us and start to discover through the lens of other Iowa family businesses and the discussion within your own business how to prepare for the future and determine the direction of your family business.

NEXT GENERATION ….. these are the people who will shape the future of family business and the world around us! They are the creators of what is next! Check out the Next Generation Leadership Series for family businesses that will launch in Central Iowa and Eastern Iowa in November!
