Family Business Next Generation Leadership LAUNCHES!

The Des Moines cohort of the Family Business Next Generation Leadership launched on November 1st. 

Comments from those attending the first session:

“There is a lot of energy in this group …. The ideas, experience sharing and learning will be valuable to me.”  

Each Family Business Next Generation group is composed of 8-15 individuals who are from family businesses that do not compete with one another.  Confidentiality and a safe environment are at the core of being able to exchange ideas and continue to develop leadership skills.  

Topics are identified by the group each month and explored through a process of experience sharing.  Speakers and resources are brought into the group on subjects that need a deeper dive or having an expert in the room will be beneficial.  

“The future of Iowa family businesses is our next generation”, comments Dan Beenken, Senior Program Manager of the UNI Family Business Forum.  “One of the most difficult challenges for family business is generational succession. This program helps the next generation is understanding their skill set, develop their skills as each individual looks to move into expanded leadership roles and understand succession at multiple levels.  We are excited to roll this program out across the state to assist Iowa family businesses continue to thrive in the future.”
