Often during succession planning, our focus is swayed to the incoming generation and preparing them for day to day leadership of the firm. That lens is critical, but what about the outgoing leadership? How can the firm and the family continue to utilize their strengths and how do we ensure a smooth transition for the former CEO? Their experiences and relationships are an amazing competitive advantage that non-family companies don’t enjoy.
We are currently planning the first meeting of this group, it will be held quarterly, travel around the state (as we hope our participants will be able to host the group), and we will be using a facilitator who is also in your shoes as a former CEO. The group will be confidential and flexible to focus on the issues important to them. If you or someone from your family might be a fit for this, we would love to talk more about how this program will look.
